Mattress in an alley
Now that downtown is getting a facelift I hope we do something about some
of the alleys downtown specially this one in back of Walgreens. I guess we don't
really put much attention some of the alleys because we see them as a place to
keep trash, where homeless people and drunks hang out and go to the bathroom.
But it would be nice to pass by the sidewalk and not have this sight and the smell.

Man with blue gloves
This is one of a few videos I have taken from my apartment window.
One morning I saw this man walking back and forth, I did not know
how long he was going to be doing that so I got my camera, set it up
on a tripod, quickly looked for a song in my computer and started
recording the video and the music from my computer at the same time.
I did not know if the song I had picked was right, how long it was
going to last or if it was going to get too crazy and ruin the video.
The idea was to stop recording when the music was over. The song stopped
and the man kept walking for a minute more then he suddenly stopped and
thats when I stopped recording. I do not have a way of editing video so
I have to record music at the same time and hope for the best...
This video was recorded in 2008. Music by Do Make Say Think.

Michael and Mini pinatas
What I find interesting about pinatas made in the image of a character or person
(usually an american icon or character) is that you tell your kids to choose their favorite character
and then you hang it from a rope and then kids wait their turn to beat the candies out of the character
with a stick...mmm? If you like this character so much why are you beating it with a stick?
Isn't that what people do when they hate somebody and to show how much they hate him they make
a "pinata" in the image of that person and beat and kick it to shreds in public or private demonstrations.
Look in youtube under BUSH PINATA and you'll see what I mean.
If I made a pinata of one of your relatives like your son or mother would you still hit it with a stick?
It's just paper and glue!

Trash inside a trashcan
What I find so interesting about this view of trash in a trashcan is that it is a wonderful
collage of randomly placed materials. I all starts with a "clean" and empty space and
during the day all kinds of persons start making this wonderful work made up different
materials, textures and colors. Yes there is dirt, lots of germs, spit, gum, food, humidity
and odor but seen from above and in a photo it looks wonderful. I have several photos
like this just waiting to be enlarged and displayed somewhere.
Take the time to see everything here, now it's the time to "stick" your head in a trashcan
but in the comfort of your office and without the odor.

Last Edition 2003 VW
There where only 3,000 last edition VW or "Vochos" produced in Puebla, Mexico before the plant closed
its doors in 2003. 2,999 of the last edition cars where sold at $8,000 dlls. and the last car was sent
to Wolsburg, Germany to be part of the VW collection. The last edition has details of the older models
like, chrome bumpers and chrome side and hood trims. It also has white wall tires and the instrument
panel and instruments are the same color as the car.
The last edition came in only two colors, light blue or beige and had the company's German logo on
the hood and "Last Edition" printed on the door of the glove compartment. The factory in Puebla, Mexico
was the only one producing the VW after the plant in Brazil closed its doors in 1996.

Streetcar, early 60's
The streetcars would take people to Juarez and also picked up people in
Juarez and brought them to El Paso. One of the problems with these
streetcars was that every time there was a power outage they would
all stop running. That would create traffic jams everywhere they had stopped
especially if they stopped running in the middle of a busy intersection.
Power outages could last a few hours or sometimes half a day.

When it came out it was rated X, later was re-released in late 1970
and was downgraded to R. It was an archetypal film for the
"New Hollywood" of the 70's, with its adult themes of alienation,
sex and drugs, anti-authoritarianism, and quest for freedom.
Won 3 Oscars including Best Picture and Best Director.

Broken slate outside a building
We need to do something about people destroying property while
skateboarding. Everywhere downtown I see damaged property
by skateboarders. Maybe the solution would be to build a
skateboard park in the downtown area. Something like what they
have right now in back of the boys club in the second ward.
It could be around the library were there is still some open space.
It can be a combination of ramps, walls (like the one above) and even
some trees and a few picnic tables. Why not, maybe also a basketball
hoop. We want people to come live downtown but all we are thinking
about is having more restaurants and cafes. Where are people going
to play, sit under a tree and read a book, walk their dog, have a picnic
and cook a burguer if they wish.
Are kids going to play in the streets and sidwalks? We need recreational
areas to be within walking distance in order for people downtown to
use them.
A small movie house that plays foreign films and documentaries and
a spacious but smaller than the bookstore in Marfa would be nice!
