Breakfast
Today was a bit cold and I was craving a nice cup of coffee and the breakfast at Azulejos in the Camino Real Hotel.
I will have to say the buffet at Azulejos is the best breakfast buffet downtown.
They have the buffet everyday until 9 or 9:30 depending on how many customers they have that morning and on saturdays until 11. What they usually have in the buffet is waffles, green chile con carne, red chile con carne, chilaquiles, beans with cheese, bacon, cut potatoes, scrambled egg, fruit, oatmeal, a variaty of mexican sweet breads and to drink you can have milk, coffee or a one of the 3-4 fresh fruit juices. There is also a lady that can make you an omelet with any of the ingredients she has like; mushrooms, green chile, broccoli, onions, tomatoes, bacon, white and yellow cheese.
Today the buffet was a bit different. There was no chile con carne - red or green, no beans with cheese and no chilaquiles. They where replaced by sausage, biscuits and a white gravy to go with the biscuits.
I asked the lady doing the omelets what had happened to the chile con carne and the other food they had before. She told me some customers where saying the food was to mexican.
I think it might have to do with the bowling convention going on at the convention center. Most of the players are staying in the Camino Real are from different parts of the country and I guess they are not used to the chili or they just feel more comfortable eating the kind of food they are more familiar with.
The buffet was still good but it lacked that spicy flavor some of us are used to. Well I just hope the change is
while the bowling convention is here - until june or july - because I prefer chilaquiles, beans and chile con carne to muffins with gravy.
